Many waterbodies have been deeply affected in their environmental, economic, and social fabric. Actions are finally being taken not only for environmental safety, but also to restore the waterbodies and their function. This is done by carefully studying river ecosystems and their components, both biotic and abiotic, but also through interventions to properly manage activities connected with the river, including recreation.
