Action A1 Application of the Indice di Funzionalità Fluviale (River Funcionality Index)

The River Functionality index is a parameter used to assess the ecological functionality of a water course, meaning by that the result of the synergy between the different biotic and abiotic factors present in the water ecosystem and in the related land. The project will use the index as an instrument for a proper planning of the real actions. The restoration project aims at both safeguarding the already present riparian areas and creating new belts along the river by purchasing new lands. Some karst springs will be also restored, and a binding action will be established for a correct land management able to fulfill the canons of a correct river functionality.
